Understanding Secondary Care

Secondary care sits between residential rehabilitation and fully independent living. It provides accommodation, structure and continued support while someone practises recovery in everyday life.

The early months after primary treatment carry the highest risk of relapse. Moving straight back into old surroundings, often without routine or accountability, asks a great deal of anyone.

In secondary accommodation, residents keep working on relapse prevention while managing money, work, study, appointments and relationships — with support close at hand.

The aim is simple: leave with the practical skills, resilience and support network needed to live independently and stay well.
